FAE BL0/ML Mulcher Brings Forestry Duty to 24-40 hp Mini Loaders

#News Center ·2026-11-02 00:00:00

FAE has added a new entry to its forestry lineup: the BL0/ML mulcher, a head designed specifically for mini track loaders and articulated mini loaders in the 24- to 40-horsepower class. Despite the small carriers it is built for, the attachment can mulch light vegetation, brush and trees up to 4 inches (about 10 cm) in diameter, and is offered in two working widths, the BL0/ML-75 and the BL0/ML-100.

The headline feature is FAE's Bite Limiter technology. The rotor carries special wear-resistant steel profiles that limit the depth of each cut. According to FAE, this reduces power demand, keeps the working speed constant, lowers the risk of the rotor stalling and optimizes fuel consumption — all important on carriers where hydraulic capacity is limited. For owners of compact machines, that means a mulching head that actually matches the machine instead of lugging the engine on every pass.

Two details matter for long-term running costs. First, the gear motor on the BL0/ML minimizes routine maintenance and eliminates the need for a dedicated case drain line, which simplifies plumbing on smaller carriers. Second, the head works with FAE's Spike PRO counter blades — offset, interchangeable blades that reduce power absorption and produce a finer final product, while handling both very hard wood and more flexible brush. Users can equip the head with BL/MINI blades or C/3/MINI teeth depending on the material they cut most.

Other features include interchangeable, adjustable skids for operating precision, adaptable mounting plates that fit a range of mini loaders, and a standard safety chain with a Lexan windshield for operator protection.

For buyers of compact equipment and attachments, the BL0/ML is a reminder that mulcher heads are consumable-driven tools: rotor teeth and counter blades are high-wear items, so availability of blades, teeth and wear profiles for the carrier class you run should weigh as heavily in the purchase decision as the headline specs.
